Reached by a long private drive, the traditional house emerges amid magnificent gardens and guests are welcome to pick rhubarb, berries, or pears depending on the season.
Inside, the entirety of the house is traditionally furnished, a carved bench and coat rack greet visitors before leading into the snug, where cosy seating, a wood-burning stove and TV make the perfect retreat. Like most rooms, it is decorated with clocks, a charming reminder of the family’s clockmaking heritage.
A downstairs twin bedroom offers beautiful garden views, with Loch Ard resting behind. The main communal living space is generous, with sofas, a window perch for reading and binoculars for spotting wildlife. The grand dining room seats 12 and features another wood-burning stove, beautiful grandfather clocks and breathtaking landscapes.
Other highlights downstairs include a veranda overlooking the grounds, a library, kitchen with Aga, conservatory with a unique table crafted from the original face of Alloa’s town hall and two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite. A shower room and utility space provide added convenience.
Upstairs, the landing is adorned with paintings and clocks which lead to three bedrooms, a twin bedroom ideal for children with a dolls house and two double bedrooms, each augmented by splendid views. A family bathroom with bath, handheld shower and sufficient storage serves residents on the floor.
Blairuskin holds countless communal spaces to socialise and play games with loved ones, or endless cosy nooks to rest and recharge with a warm cuppa or a book from the library.
A converted garage serves as a lively games room with table tennis, table football and a snooker table, with an added fridge freezer for snacks. Around 30 acres of woodland surround Blairuskin, with nearby paths for long walks, close by trails leading up Ben Venue, and adventures around Loch Ard. The stream at the garden’s edge is perfect for relaxing with children and dogs.
Blairuskin’s remote setting amongst nature is occasionally affected when the road between Kinlochard and Aberfoyle may flood. While unlikely, should this occur guests are not to drive through, as your safety is of utmost importance and the water levels usually recede within six to eight hours. Updates can be found via River Level Information; we apologise for any inconvenience.
