Helensburgh & Rhu
Helensburgh is a pretty seaside town set on the eastern shore of the Gare Loch, a sea loch that stretches south for around 7 miles before flowing into the Firth of Clyde. The town’s picturesque promenade has wonderful views out towards the Rosneath peninsula and there are plenty of eateries to choose from, as well as two excellent golf courses.
Upper Helensburgh is home to Rennie Mackintosh’s famous Hill House that is open to the public with lots of fine examples of his distinctive design work and at the nearby village of Rhu you can see all the yachts bobbing in the water at the marina.
Glasgow is easily reachable my train (35 minutes) and you are also well placed for enjoying all the outdoor activities and watersports within the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
